This is a $9.99 Trader Joe's wine sourced from the Paso Robles AVA.

It has more body and is smoother than the average value-priced Sauvignon Blanc.

It still has good, solid flavor; there aren't the flavor spikes and acidity often associated with Sauvignon Blanc.

Paso Robles is a warmer growing region, while the coastal vineyards are cooler, but we do not have info on how the grapes are grown.

Still, this is a tasty, inexpensive, and very drinkable Trader Joe's wine.

Hey, welcome. It's Domain Dave from CheapWinefighter.com again, like always. Got another uh value-priced wine we're gonna talk about. We write them up on the CheapWinefighter.com website. There's tons of stuff on that site. And uh usually for every wine we do links and photographs and a little bit of knowledge on it. Today we've got a uh from Trader Joe's. They actually have some new wines. Corvelia, Paso Robo Sauvignon Blanc 2025. Corvelia is a brand that has been there before at Trader Joe's. They have a Cabinet Sauvignon and a Zimpandel, and this is their Savillon Blanc, of course. They're from Paso Robo's. Um, one weird thing about this, um in the past, the producer was Bozano and Company, which is a uh custom crush company. They have their own brands and custom crush, they make wines for other people. It's a kind of a really good business to get into, you get paid up front. But um this one is from uh Monterey Wine Company. And the weird part about it is that Bosano, as far as I can tell, owns a trademark, but the back label gives uh Monterey Wine Company's address as the winery of record. So either they changed off or they sparmed it out something, not that it matters. 10 bucks uh Savion Blanc. So what are you gonna do? I mean, who makes it isn't that important. It gets really who would who makes it gets important when it gets up in price, and you want the winery to have some gravitas behind it. Value price, you just want a good one. So we got a nice wine here, but this is kind of the uh anti New Zealand wine, which is like it'd be spiky and big and huge nose, and this one's soft and smooth with a kind of a husky mouthfeel. It kind of reminds me of Bordeaux Blanc, which is Savillon Blanc and Semillon, and the Semillon kind of smooths the uh Savillon Blanc off. This is kind of that way. It's um at first it's like oh it's not what I was expecting, but after a couple of sips, it's it's good. Paso Robles is halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, and it's an area that has always, you know, since its inception had a the reputation of winemakers do it their way. They don't really care what the trends are, they're gonna make their wines their way, and their reputation has been growing every year. And uh they actually, well they're mostly known for red wines. They have really good Cabinet Savillon and Zinfandels and that type of thing, and and blends. They're getting a little bit of a known for Savillon Blanc, too. And this is a different take on it. If you're a little bit, you wanna if you're a connoisseur of Savillon Blanc, you know, a value price, because you can get a zillion of them uh out there. This is kind of a fun one to get because it's smoother, it's um not as spiky, it's not as I'm not sure it's not as, but it is is it it has good ripe fruit. Took a sip. It's kind of a satisfying drink, and it it might be a wine that could stand up to uh parry. I think it would be a decent wine if you put a nice chill on it. The chill on my bottles got a little cool, then a little warm. Uh, maybe even like pork chops or something. A white meat, salads, uh, fish, Asian spicy noodles. All those things would uh kind of do well here. It is maybe more of a food one, well, not a more of a food one, but a food wine. Not all Sauvignon Blancs are that way. A lot of Sauvignon Blancs are just springtime in a bottle. They're fun to drink, fun to sip. While you can have them, uh you probably drink most of it while you're cooking the food, so it's not gonna work as a pairing food. This one, you might want to think about it. If you got um you know, not barbecue chicken, but maybe um you know, some kind of rub you put on it. I mean, this could go with chicken, could go with pork. Um even things like uh shrimp cocktail or something would work. So I kind of kind of like this $10 Corvelia, C-O-R-B-E-L-I-A. Um the name's not even on the label, it's just a gold one, those shadow drawings, people outline it. Uh it is on the side Corvia. Savion Blanc. It's kind of simple, it's kind of elegant looking. No one'll ever know you got it. You bought it for 10 bucks at Trader Joe's. It isn't your um, it isn't your cookie cutter Savillon Blanc. Yeah, it's good. Got nice length, it's got a nice little act, the finish has a nice little sweetness to it. I like it. So there you go, it's it for me, Trader Joe. I mean not Trader Joe's uh Domain Dave from cheapwinefinder.com. Forgot who I was. Uh I think I've got a um a kava coming up. I haven't done a kava in a while, and it's good to talk about that because it's they make them like champagne, but not quite. So there's some differences, but it's always less expensive.
