Hey, it's Domain Dave from CheapWineFindercom. Again, we do another wine review. We write up the reviews with all the links to the websites for all these things on there, and we have a website that has well, we got rid of the oldest, oldest wines, but we've been doing this since 2008. So if you're interested in a value-priced wine, check it out. There's a lot of wines in there. You know, usually with value price wines, the last few vintages are the only ones that matter, but there's a lot of stuff in there. So what we have today is the Bear Brothers California Sauvignon Blanc 2023 at $7.99 at Aldi.
Speaker 1:Aldi Aldi's been really slow this year. They really haven't had too many new wines, but that's okay. So I went for the wine that I think we did the 2020 vintage of this. I checked the California Wine Cola Registry. Everybody has to get their label approved, has to go through this, and there's information on the wines who made it, and this one is registered to Souter Home. Souter Home's a big label, but most of their wines are non-vintage. This is a vintage wine and they're actually owned by Trinchero, who is a large family owned. They do Ménage à Trois, joguia, seaglass, charles and Charles. They do a whole bunch of wines. They have a large portfolio and they're a family owned winery. So another weird thing about Aldi is typically Aldi owns the brand name. Then they hire someone to make that brand name for them. So if they ever have an issue where someone doesn't want to do it anymore or wants to charge more, they just get somebody else to do it and the brand just keeps on going, which is different than Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's want to send it coming and going more often.
Speaker 1:So what do we have here? I'm going to take a sip. It is a California. California means it's from the Central Coast, it's from the North Coast, it could be from Lodi Larkspur Combined and it is a actually a tasty Sauvignon Blanc. It does not taste like New Zealand I'm pouring myself a little bit more. It does not taste like Lower Valley. It does not taste like lower valley. It's kind of got more body. It doesn't have a lot of alcohol. It's 12.5 in the alcohol, which in today's wine world that's low. But I have like a little bit of a Chardonnay feel to it. But there's no oak. It has a little more body and it's got a lot of fruit and a lot of citrus. It just kind of has a nice balance of flavors. It's not going to blow you away, but it tastes good.
Speaker 1:I mean, for $8 and you have a tasty wine. I had it chilled for like three hours and it came out tasting really nice. What am I trying to say? It used to be under $10 wines, especially white wines. The acidity was either too much or too little, and that hasn't been the case for a while now. This acidity is really nice. This has balanced acidity. Somebody did a nice job and maybe picking it when it's 12.5 to cool the acidity down is their key. But whatever it did, it worked.
Speaker 1:This is a tasty, affordable, value-priced wine that is very drinkable. I wouldn't necessarily pair it with anything Maybe a fancy salad, maybe that type of thing. It's got a little bit too much fruit, too much citrus, going on to be like with whitefish and that type of thing. Just took another sip because, if I wanted to, it tastes good. So there you go. I mean this Bear Brothers California Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is an $8, $7.99 wine you can pick up at Aldi, put a chill on it and it's a nice Tuesday evening wine, it's a nice Saturday night wine. It's the kind of wine you can buy two or three bottles and share with friends when they come over. And it tastes nice, you don't have to think about it, you don't have to contemplate, you're able to enjoy it, and it's a good wine at a good price. So there you go. That's about all I've got to say. I've got a Trader Joe's Walla Walla Syrah coming up in a few days. We'll hit that one and adios, keep it cheap. I'll be talking to you in a couple of days. Bye-bye.
